Play
of Life
4-5 (Thursday,
Friday) & 8-9 (Monday, Tuesday) February 2010
The Play of Life® is a practical, hands-on methodology designed to
rapidly affect positive transformational change in individuals,
families, teams and organisations.
The Play of Life allows people to present issues, feelings and goals
three-dimensionally; going beyond verbal descriptions and explanations
to literally “see” relationships and situations clearly. Play of Life
technology combined with Strategic Relationship Management Model®
techniques bypass the neo-cortex, where language is located to directly
connect with the limbic system; that part of the brain that deals with
emotions and memory. Only by linking the limbic system with the
neo-cortex is sustainable behavioural change possible. This is the
cornerstone of the Play of Life.
The methodology is applied extensively in the fields of psychotherapy,
counselling, coaching, family dispute resolution, corporate consultancy,
leadership and self-analysis. Very simply, the Play of Life makes
communication easier and transformation faster.

participant in a group or in the position to lead one. This might be
directly related to our counselling or coaching practice or in a
workplace team environment. Learning how groups function and how best to
facilitate them, can be of great benefit in a variety of situations.
This two-day workshop introduces participants to Irvin Yalom’s
Interpersonal Model, focusing on important qualities and skills of group
leadership. It will include an overview of the model with an existential
focus and reflect upon other group theories.

Dealing
with Depression
29 - 30 March 2010
(Monday & Tuesday)
Based on the book Existential Time-Limited
Therapy by Drs Freddie & Alison Strasser.
An individual suffering from depression
will question the meaning of life, often feeling a sense of despair,
loneliness and meaningless.
We all have different experiences of time depending on our mood. People
in a depressed state often talk about how time slows down, the present
is meaningless, their sense of future becomes lacking in hope, and the
past is full of regret. By working with time itself in the Time-Limited
framework created by Drs Freddie and Alison Strasser, the practitioner
and client can work with depression where time itself becomes the
cornerstone of working with clients. How we engage in our living and how
we find meaning by questioning our existence lies at the heart of our
living a fuller, more purposeful life.

Relationships
Counselling for Parent-child, Couples and Families Relationships
An experiential and Creative Arts Therapy Approach
6 - 9 April 2010 (Tuesday to Friday)
We are all in some forms of intertwining
relationships, be it parent-child, couple or family relationship. Some
make us feel loved, safe and happy, some break our hearts, spirits,
drain and trap us. Although all of us have both positive and negative
experiences, unfortunately most clients in counselling allow the
negativity to impair them and cause them to be dysfunctional in their
general being. This workshop will help clients to clarify their
situation in order to generate solutions. Although clarity on what
different relationships impact or impair our lives may not result in
solutions or resolutions, however, such understandings do empower
clients to make sensible choices on “what can I do about it” as compared
to remain entangled in perplexity.

REGISTRATION CLOSED, CLASS FULL
Working
Creatively with
"Denied" Child Abuse
The Resolutions Approach
20 - 21 May 2010 (Tuesday & Friday)
Situations where parents dispute child
abuse allegations made against them are often deemed to be impossible or
untreatable by statutory and treatment professionals. These cases can
consume enormous amounts of professional time and energy and they
frequently become bogged down by ongoing mistrust and disputes between
professionals and the family. Often the decision to close such cases
comes about not because the children are safe, but rather because the
professionals run out of ideas, time and energy to make any positive
difference.
The Resolution Approach - an innovative, safety-focused,
partnership-based approach (was created and developed by English family
therapists Susie Essex, John Gumbleton and Colin Luger) is design
specifically to address the frustrating & intense battle among the
parents / perpetrator and the helping professionals with the aim of
providing “safety first” to the children.
This workshop is based on the following books
by the Trainer: Dr Andres Turnell

Attachment
Theory
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Assessment & Treatment
27 - 30 July 2010 (Tuesday to
Friday)
Attachment theory provides a descriptive and explanatory framework for
discussion of affectionate relationships between human beings. When
children experience abuse or neglect inflicted by a primary caregiver
this will usually disrupt the normal development of secure attachment
which could result in life long psychological issues and disturbances.
As the number of children growing up in residential settings, single
parent families, dysfunction families and adopted families are on the
rise, this very specialised skill would be very useful for helping
professionals who are working in this area.

Drama Therapy
An Experiential and Creative Arts Therapy
Approach
9 - 12 November 2010
(Tuesday to Friday)
What is Drama Therapy
It is "the systematic and intentional use of drama /theatre processes,
products, for physical integration and personal growth."
Why Drama therapy is useful?
Drama therapy evolved from the experience and research of
psychotherapists, teachers, and theatre professionals who recognized
that sometimes traditional verbal therapies were too rigid to permit
clients to confront and work through individual disturbances. The
balanced of verbal and non-verbal components of drama therapy with its
language of metaphor allow clients to work productively within a
therapeutic alliance. This active approach that helps the client tell
his or her story to solve a problem, achieve a catharsis, extend the
depth and breadth of inner experience, understand the meaning of images,
and strengthen the ability to observe personal roles while increasing
flexibility between roles.
